AGARTALA: The second National Lok Adalat of the year is scheduled to be held across Tripura on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with an ambitious target of disposing of 21,410 cases in a single day.
The Lok Adalat will be conducted at the Tripura High Court as well as all district and sub-divisional court premises across the state. A total of 40 benches have been constituted to handle the caseload.
According to official figures, the categories of cases to be taken up include 5,457 cases related to bank loan repayments; 14,264 conciliatory criminal cases under the MB Act, TP Act, TG Act, and Excise Act; 339 motor accident compensation cases; 211 marital dispute cases; 1,000 BSNL bill payment disputes; 63 cheque bounce cases under the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act; 9 cases related to consumer grievances; 48 electricity bill disputes; and 8 employment-related issues.
Notices have been issued to both parties involved in these cases, and since May 5, parties have been availing the option of pre-conciliation or settlement by reaching out to the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Sub-Division Legal Services Authority (SDLSA) offices. To further assist the public, ‘Odhikar Mitras’ will be available to guide those involved in the Lok Adalat process.
