Tripura to Get New International-Standard Airport Near Agartala, Says Central Government

Agartala: The central government is considering the construction of a new international-standard airport in Tripura, located 25 to 30 kilometers from Agartala.

While a final decision is yet to be made, sources confirm that the plan has been approved in principle. The current Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport faces security concerns due to its proximity to the international border.

With the goal of positioning Tripura as a gateway to Southeast Asia, the government is prioritizing this project to improve connectivity and regional significance. Land acquisition for the new airport is underway, marking a significant step in the initiative.

In another news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm birthday wishes to Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, praising his humble and hardworking nature, which has endeared him to the people of the state. In his message on Wednesday, PM Modi expressed his prayers for CM Saha's long and healthy life, acknowledging his contributions to the state’s development.

On a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, "Birthday wishes to the Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha Ji. He has endeared himself to the people of Tripura thanks to his humble and hardworking nature. His focus on all-round development of the state has led to great outcomes. May he lead a long and healthy life."

In response, the Tripura CM wrote, "Thank you so much for your kind and appreciating words. Your guidance and motivation is helping the state to walk on the path of holistic development."
