Tripura to Recruit Over 8,000 Personnel In Home Department, Says CM Saha

The state government plans to fill 8,000+ Home Department vacancies. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, also Home Minister, informed the Assembly, highlighting efforts to address the shortage.

Agartala: The state government is working towards filling up over 8,000 posts in various positions under the Home Department. The Assembly was informed about the vacancy by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, who currently holds the Home portfolio.

He added that a total of 7,323 posts are vacant at present and includes 2,125 posts for constables.

Addressing the Assembly, he pointed out the continuous nature of the process of filling up vacant posts and that the state government has taken the initiative to fill 218 Sub-Inspector (Armed and Unarmed) posts for male candidates as well as female candidates through TPSC.

He mentioned that the state government is working towards filling up 1,000 posts for Constables with the addition of another 916 Constable posts.

CM Saha also mentioned the those in Ad-hoc positions are being promoted by the state government to fill various posts that are vacant.

Also, the process of recruiting 6,067 Special Police Executives is also almost complete.

Earlier, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha had informed the Tripura Assembly that the shortage of college teachers was being addressed, with recruitment for 401 posts initiated in phases.

The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) had been tasked with conducting exams for 201 Assistant Professor posts, while cabinet approval and financial clearance had been granted for 200 additional positions.

Tripura’s 31 general degree colleges served 72,009 students with only 787 faculty members, falling short of the UGC-recommended teacher-student ratio. At the time, 710 guest faculty were assisting.

MLAs emphasized the urgency of recruitment and proposed renaming colleges in Longtharai Valley and Kanchanpur to honor late leaders Shyamacharan Tripura and Drau Kumar Reang.
