Agartala: Two Bangladeshi infiltrators were arrested at Agartala's MBB airport yesterday. The arrested women were identified as Rehana Sheikh (35) and Ankhi Sheikh (34).

According to police, the arrest was made in front of the airport terminal when the two women were waiting to board an Indigo flight to Delhi. The police had also recovered two fake 'Aadhar' cards from the possession of the women.

It has been reported that the two women had previously spent few months in West Bengal prison due to the same offence and later pushed back to Bangladesh. However, the two women returned with fake 'Aadhar cards' which they obtained from an illegal 'Aadhar card' racket in Tripura.

Earlier this month, The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura intercepted a major smuggling operation and detained three Bangladeshi nationals in two separate incidents.

On January 12, female personnel at the Ashabari Border Out Post (BOP) in Sepahijala district stopped smugglers armed with weapons attempting to push contraband, recovering sugar and other items.

On January 11, BSF at BOP Gaurnagar in Khowai district detained three Bangladeshi nationals crossing into Bangladesh, who revealed details of facilitators on both sides.

Additional operations resulted in rescuing 10 cattle and seizing 1,000 kg of sugar, cannabis, and other contraband worth ₹50 lakh. Inspector General Ashwani Kumar Sharma reviewed border security, visited key BOPs, and extended goodwill to Border Guard Bangladesh personnel.
