The South Salmara PS accompanied by O/C Abdul Kalam Azad and staffs conducted a search operation on the basis of secret information at Rabhatari area and destroyed an area of Opium cultivation in approx 8 bighas of land.
This net value of the destroyed opiums is estimated to be around Rs 7 crores.
Necessary legal action and follow up action is being initiated.
In another instance, almost 6 bighas of land for opium cultivation was destroyed at Fakirganj under BHN OP under South Salmara District.
A total of 24 bighas of land used in opium cultivation were destroyed by Assam Police in South Salmara's Fakirganj area.
