Congress has started Panchyat election campaigning in Lakhimpur. In a public meeting presided over by Congress president Ripun Bora along with Bhupen Bora and S.R.Subba.In that meeting Social worker Khagen Gogoi officially joined Congress who was a BJP member previously.
