A 45 year old man is feared dead by drowning in the Aai river in Dumerguri area of Abhayapuri. According to the villagers, the man, Ansar Ali was trying to swim across the river to the other side but strong current seems to have been swept him away. The locals immediately informed the Bongaigaon district administration and Abhayapuri police but they have alleged that the police and the team of SDRF reached the site after 3-4 hours. The search operation is underway by the SDRF team. The man was the only earning member of the family. Therefore, the locals have now demanded a one-time financial grant from the administration or the state government.
