Man elephant conflict resulted of habitat loss and fragmentation in the area of Samuguri in Nagaon.
When elephants and humans interact, there is conflict from crop raiding, injuries and deaths to humans caused by elephants, and elephants being killed by humans for reasons other than ivory and habitat degradation.
As per reports, people in the region are spending sleepless nights since last couple of months, as the forest department in the region failed to counter the situation.
