Assam edge J&K 3-2 for second win in Sub-Junior Hockey Nationals

Assam clinch second straight win at 15th Sub-Junior Nationals, edging Jammu & Kashmir 3-2 in a close match in Ranchi.

GUWAHATI: Assam secured their second consecutive victory in the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship held in Ranchi on Friday. In a closely fought encounter, Assam edged past Jammu and Kashmir with a 3-2 win.

Assam dominated the early part, netting three goals — two by Jyoshna Ekka in the 27th and 39th minutes, and one by Roshni Burh in the 38th minute. Jammu and Kashmir staged a late comeback, with Akshra Dutta scoring twice in the 40th and 53rd minutes, but fell short of leveling the score.

Earlier, on Thursday, Assam had outclassed Goa with a convincing 7-1 win.
