GUWAHATI: The Assam Bridge Association (ABA) has selected a 22-member team to represent the state at the upcoming Inter-State National Bridge Championship, scheduled to take place in Mysore from August 1.
The players were chosen based on their performances in the recently concluded 48th Percy Evans Assam State Bridge Championship held in Duliajan.
In a press release, the president and secretary of ABA, Pranab Kr Goswami and DN Bordoloi, highlighted that Bridge is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and has already been featured in the Asian Games. Furthermore, the game will be included in the 2027 Olympic Esports Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ABA is also working on securing affiliation from the Assam Olympic Association.
The selected squad: Team: Hemanta Kr Sarmah, Ashis Das, Mridul Das, Gautam Ranjan Das, Swapan Sarkar, Debasish Mazumder, Debasish Ghosh, Gautam Roy, Manik Acharjee, Surojit Dutta. The pairs events:Anjan Kumar Chanda and Gaurish Chandra Nag, Santosh Kumar Singh and Abhijit Kumar Borah, Mukul Sharma and D.K. Sharma,Partha Purkayastha and Amitava Choudhury, Jayanta Gogoi and Satyendra Kr Dutta, I. Rahman and Dhruba Dey.
