GUWAHATI: The first batch of Assam’s athletes for the Khelo India Youth Games left Guwahati on Thursday, marking the beginning of the state’s participation in the prestigious sports event. The Games will take place in Bihar and Delhi from May 4-15.

The initial contingent, which includes teams for kabaddi and volleyball, set off this morning. The second batch representing disciplines like judo, swimming, cycling, sepak takraw, and gatka, will depart the city on Friday. This is the first time Bihar has been chosen to host the Khelo India Youth Games, with competitions scheduled across five cities in the state. Events like shooting, gymnastics, and track cycling, however, will be held in New Delhi.Assam will participate in 17 disciplines
