Guwahati: Maintu Bhagawati of Prag News annexed double-crown in the Inter Media Badminton Championship of the 13th Topcem-ASJA NE Media Sports Festival held at the Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium here today. In the men's singles Maintu defeated Pratap Dey (AIR) 15-9 and 17-15.
Later in the Team event Maintu and his partner Gitendra Ashit Chutia and Swapnanil Gogoi bagged the title defeating Assam Tribune (Sivashish Thakur and Rituraj Borthakur) by 2-0. In the women's singles Rimple Rajkumari of DDK clinched the title. She beat Harshita Bhagawati Kataki of Headline 8 by 2-0 in the final.
Earlier the Championship was inaugurated by Omar Rashid, the secretary of Badminton Association of India as well as Assam Badminton Association.
