COVID-19: Former shuttler Bimal Poddar passes away

GUWAHATI: COVID-19 took another life from the sports world and this time it was Bimal Poddar. The former international shuttler, age 75, died in Kolkata today. Bimal represented Assam on several occasions in national championships. Later he was associated with coaching and first Olympian from Assam Dipankar Bhattacharjee was among his trainees. The Assam Badminton Association mourned the death of Poddar. In a release the secretary of the Assam Badminton Association Omar Rashid said: "We lost a great badminton enthusiast today. The loss is irreparable."
