GUWAHATI: Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre (GCCC) today felicitated Devajit Saikia, newly elected joint secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The event was held at the Nehru stadium.
In a brief speech at the function Saikia said, "We are all waiting for the day when a player of the State will represent India in the senior category. It would be nice if it happened during my tenure."
He also said, "To earn a national cap is now a little easy as demand for quality cricketers increased because cricket is now played in multiple formats. My simple advice to the young cricketers is to work hard and try to bring consistency in your performance."
The event was also attended by renowned journalist and Information Commissioner of the State Samudra Gupta Kashyap, senior journalist Pranoy Bordoloi, Chairman of North East Cancer Hospital Ganesh Tamuli, President and Coach cum Secretary of Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre Rajib Prakash Baruah, Nabab Ali respectively and several former cricketers.
