The Mega IPL Auction 2022 has started today on Saturday 12 February and as of the results now Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has emerged as the most expensive player.
Shreyas Iyer is bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rupees 12.25 crore. Harshal Patel bought by Royal Challengers Bengal (RCB) for Rupees 10.75 crore is the second Indian player to invite a bid over Rupees 10 crore.
In mentioning about oversees players, Wanindu Hasaranga was the first player for whom the ten crore barrier was breached in this season of IPL Auction
Here is the list of the most expensive players so far:
- As per the existing record, Chris Morris bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Rupees 16.2 crore in IPL 2021 is the most expensive.
- Wanindu Hasaranga is the most expensive overseas player at the IPL 2022 auction so far.
- As per the IPL 2022 record, Shreyas Iyer picked for Rs 12.25 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders, is the most expensive player at the IPL 2022 auction so far.
Most Expensive Indian Players:
- Existing Record - KL Rahul was bought by the Lucknow franchise at Rupees 17 crore by the last month which made him the most expensive Indian player in the IPL.
- Shreyas Iyer is the most expensive player at the IPL 2022 auction so far.
- Harshal Patel going to Royal Challengers Bangalore is the second most expensive Indian player at the IPL 2022 auction so far.
Most Expensive Overseas Player:
- Existing Record - Chris Morris picked by Rajasthan Royals at Rs 16.2 crore in IPL 2021
- Wanindu Hasaranga was the first overseas player for whom the 10-crore barrier was breached.
Most Expensive Uncapped Player:
- As per the existing record, Krishnappa Gowtham picked by Chennai Super Kings at Rupees 9.25 crore in IPL 2021 is the most expensive.
- IPL 2022 Record - Young batsman Shahrukh Khan is expected to break this record in the 2022 grand IPL Auction as the uncapped players are yet to go under the hammer.
