Doha: FC Bayern Munich’s Colombian star James Rodriguez has received medical clearance and joined the team’s training session here, head coach Nico Kovac said at a press conference.

Rodriguez, who was the leading scorer at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been recovering from a ruptured ligament in his left knee since mid-November, reports Efe.

“We have green light from medical staff,” Kovac said on Saturday.

“James no longer has any pain. We wait for him to be in best form. He is a great player and he has already shown it.”

The Colombian star travelled to Doha alongside his 28 colleagues, following the vacation he had in his country, and he took part in Saturday’s 90-minute training session at the Aspire Academy facilities.

Kovac also added that German winger Serge Gnabry has recovered from his injury and has joined the team’s winter preparations ahead of the resumption of Bundesliga contests, where defending champion Bayern Munich is second in the standings, six points behind leader Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga will resume on January 18. IANS
