GUWAHATI: Former international swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika will re-attempt to cross the English Channel in the next year. It will be the second occasion when Elvis will try to cross the channel. Earlier, he made an unsuccessful attempt in 2018
Disclosing the news in a media briefing Elvis today said that it will be a relay swimming and the team will try to swim the channel twice. "Generally a swimmer swims one side of the channel but we have decided to cross the channel twice. We will start to swim from England on July 17 next year and after reaching France we will return to England by swimming the same route. The total distance we will cover will be around 78kms and it will take nearly 31 hours," said the swimmer.
Commenting about his preparation Elvis said, "I will travel to Mumbai in January and will make my final preparation in the sea."
The swimmer also informed that total expenditure of this expedition will cost around Rs 20 lakh and he needed support from the well wishers to reach his goal.
