GUWAHATI: The 42nd edition of Abhiruchi Sports Day will be celebrated across Assam on September 3 to mark the birth anniversary of legendary athlete Bhogeswar Barua. Organized annually by the Abhiruchi Group, the day is observed as a tribute to Barua’s immense contribution to sports in the state as well as in the international arena.
This year, the celebrations in the city will span two days, starting with the traditional mass jogging on September 3. The day will also feature a variety of cultural programmes, adding vibrancy to the occasion. A series of events are also scheduled, including a sports quiz and a felicitation ceremony to honour outstanding sportspersons on September 7.
