5th Assam State Equestrian Championship Begins in Kahilipara

The 5th Assam State Equestrian Championship started at 4th Assam Police Battalion ground in Kahilipara in the city today.

GUWAHATI: The 5th Assam State Equestrian Championship started  at 4th Assam Police Battalion ground in Kahilipara in the city today. This prestigious event to be held for next 2 days will bring together top riders and equestrian talents from across the state.

This year the total number of horse will be 41 and 74 riders will participate in various events. The teams participating are from AVS, Tezpur, Army base Missamari, NCC Guwahati, Royal Global University, EFA Centre Dibrugarh and Assam Police from 4th APBn.

Organized with the objective of promoting equestrian sport in Assam, the three-day event will feature competitions across various categories and disciplines, showcasing the skill, discipline, and passion of the participants.

Col Jagat Singh, the officiating President of the Equestrian Federation of India, and Col SS Alihawat, senior member of the Executive committee of the National Federation, have already arrived to oversee the technical conduct of the event. Assisting them will be Dr Tek Chand, form the ITBP. Senior officials of EFA, including S K Barua, President, B K Dey, IPS Technical Director, Manoj Jalan and other officials of the Equestrian Federation of Assam were present today during inauguration

Since 2022 there has been a growing interest in the sport, as a result of which the state now has a pool of talented riders, ready to move to the next level.
