GUWAHATI: Guwahati gained the upper hand against NFRSA on the opening day of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Goalpara, securing a crucial 37-run first innings lead.
After being invited to bat first, Guwahati struggled to post a big total and were eventually bowled out for 130 in 42.2 overs. Rajveer Singh remained unbeaten with 40, while Subham Mandal contributed a valuable 33. For NFRSA, Abhilash Gogoi (3/33) and Deepak Gohain (3/29) were the standout bowlers.
In reply, NFRSA faltered against disciplined bowling and were dismissed for just 93 runs. Abdul Ajij Kuraishi starred with the ball for Guwahati, claiming impressive figures of 5 for 29. Kunal Saikia was the top scorer for NFRSA with 23 runs. Guwahati began their second innings and reached 9 without loss in 3 overs at stumps, extending their lead to 46 runs.
