GUWAHATI: Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club (ASEBSC) staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Dima United FC 3-2 and secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 70th Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship (Final Round) at Judges’ Field on Tuesday. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Dima United.
The match, played under floodlights, began slowly but exploded into action in the second half with four goals. Dima United took the lead in the 25th minute through Henry Thanglalmuan. However, ASEBSC came roaring back in the second half, scoring three goals within 17 minutes. Dwijoraj Boro equalized in the 49th minute, then added another goal in the 66th minute. Rahan Brahma further extended ASEBSC's lead with a goal in the 61st minute. Dima United's Lalminghlu Vanlal scored a late goal just before the final whistle, but it wasn't enough to prevent ASEBSC's victory.
In the other match of the day, Baradi FC of Barpeta earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the 19th Assam Police Battalion. The only goal of the match came in the 74th minute from Balajied Syiemlieh.
