Assam: Devajit Dutta and Pallavika Baruah Defend Titles at TOPCEM-ASJA Inter-Media Table Tennis Competition

GUWAHATI: Devajit Dutta and Pallavika Baruah successfully defended their singles titles at the TOPCEM-ASJA Inter-Media Badrauddin Ahmed Table Tennis Competition, held at the ABITA Indoor Stadium on Monday. In the team event, ASJA also retained their crown, defeating The Assam Tribune 2-1.

In the women’s singles final, a repeat of last year’s title clash, defending champion Pallavika Baruah (Prasar Bharati) dominated Preety Priyadarshini (News 18), winning 11-4, 11-6. On the men’s side, Devajit Dutta retained his title with a convincing 11-5, 11-6 victory over P.J. Baruah (The Assam Tribune).

Devajit also secured a double crown by contributing to ASJA’s team event victory. In the first singles match, Devajit gave ASJA a 1-0 lead by defeating Rituraj Borthakur 11-5, 11-6. However, The Assam Tribune leveled the match as P.J. Baruah overcame Ranjit Rai 11-5, 11-4 in the second singles. In the decisive doubles game, Devajit and Ranjit faced stiff resistance from Rituraj and P.J. Baruah but prevailed 11-5, 11-9, sealing the title for ASJA.
