Assam: Nayanmoni Scripts History with Another Gold in Lawn Bowls at National Games

GUWAHATI: Nayanmoni Saikia made history by winning another gold medal in the lawn bowls in National Games. She and Bongita Hazarika collected a gold medal in the Women’s pairs in Uttarakhand on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in athletics, Amlan Borgohain won a bronze medal in the men’s 100m race, clocking 10.40 seconds.

After the end of the 12 days of competition, Assam has collected a total of 33 medals, comprising three gold, 15 silver, and 15 bronze, placing them 20th in the overall medal tally.

Lawn Bowls: Nayanmoni Saikia, along with Bongita Hazarika, secured Assam’s third gold medal in the women’s pairs event on Saturday. Nayanmoni has now won at least one gold medal in each of the last five editions of the Games and in her illustrious career she has amassed a total of seven gold and three bronze medals from the National Games. Assam today also won two more medals in lawn bowls: Putul Sonowal (Bronze in men’s singles) and Bitopan Rabha, Amal Teron, Biman Nath, and Biswanath (Bronze in men’s fours).Assam concluded their campaign in lawn bowls with a total haul of one gold, three silver, and five bronze medals.

Athletics: Amlan Borgohain clinched a bronze medal in the men’s 100m race, finishing with a time of 10.40 seconds.

Taekwondo: Assam earned a bronze medal in the Poomsae team event, represented by Mornita Acharjee, Benla Kamprai and Panchami Das.
