Captain Amit Sinha rotated the bowlers to break the partnership but both of them were very positive on the wicket and didn’t hesitate to dispatch the bad balls to the fence.
However finally it was young pacer Mukhtar who removed Chaitanya with a nice delivery in the 28th overs of the day and match was over for Haryana. Mukhtar picked up the remaining two wickets in the same over to finish with 4-58. Arup too bagged four wickets in the second innings while Ranjeet Mali collected the other two. Entire Haryana bowled out 178 runs in the second innings.
Chaitanya took 165 balls to score 78 runs with the help of 9 boundaries while Poonish remained not out on 70 (11 boundaries).
Both coach and captain Zakaria Zuffri and Amit Sinha, felt team effort was the key factor of this victory. “ Our players gave equal performance in each and every disciplines. Our batsmen played responsible knocks, bowlers delivered well and even fielding was outstanding in both the innings. So undoubtedly the victory is the result of team efforts,” said the coach.
Captain Amit added: “We didn’t expect that we will win the game so easy. It was only possible because we gave united effort in the match.”
In the next game Assam will face Team Rajasthan in an away tie in Jaipur. The match will begin on December 6.
