GUWAHATI: Chhaygaon FC have booked their place in the final of the Assam State Premier League Football after edging past United Chirang Duar FC 2-1 in a well contested 1st semi-final clash at Dhakuakhana on Saturday.
It was a dream start for Chhaygaon FC, who struck early in the 4th minute. Midul Doley found the back of the net with a composed finish, setting the tone for what would become a fiercely contested encounter. But United Chirang Duar FC weren’t going down without a fight. They regrouped quickly and began pressing hard, eventually drawing level in the 25th minute through a well-taken goal by Maikal Daimari. The two sides went into the break locked at 1-1. The decisive moment of the match, which witnessed nearly 9000 spectators, came in the 54th minute. Chhaygaon’s Bhagyajit Rabha capitalized on a loose ball in the box and slotted it home, restoring his side’s lead and the side were successful to defend the lead until the final whistle.
The second semi-final is scheduled for Sunday, where FC Green Valley will take on Eleven Star for the remaining spot in the final.
