Bud Cricket Club lift GTC Summer Challenge Trophy

Bud Cricket Club delivered a stellar all-round performance to dominate 91 Yards Club by 154 runs in the GTC Men’s Summer Challenge T20 Trophy final at Judges’ Field.

GUWAHATI: Bud Cricket Club produced an outstanding all-round performance to defeat 91 Yards Club by a commanding 154 runs in the final of the GTC Men’s Summer Challenge T20 Trophy at Judges’ Field on Thursday.

Invited to bat first, Bud Cricket Club posted a formidable total of 203/4 in their allotted 20 overs. SK Jnyanam led the charge with a brisk 56 off 41 balls, including 4 sixes and 2 fours. He was well-supported by Sarupam Purkayastha (55 off 38 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes) and Sib Sankar Roy (51no off 23 balls, 3 fours, 4 sixes), who played quickfire knocks to take the total past 200.

For 91 Yards Club, Akshay Kr Deka, Rajendra Singh, and Kunal Sarma claimed a wicket each, but their efforts failed to contain the run-scoring as Bud raced to a daunting total.

Chasing the massive target, 91 Yards Club were quickly reduced to shambles, crumbling to just 49 all out in 9.1 overs. Only Danish Ahmed (14) and Himangshu Saraswat (14) made any significant contributions with the bat. The chase turned into a rout as Pushparaj Sharma wreaked havoc with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 7 runs in 2.1 overs. He was well-supported by Ayushman Malakar (3/14) and Sarupam Purkayastha (2/8), who completed a memorable all-round performance for Bud.

Sarupam Purkayastha was named Player of the Match for his brilliant contribution with both bat and ball. The Player of the Tournament award went to Parvej Musaraf of 91 Yards Club. Sumit Kashyap of Gauhati Town Club was recognized as the Best Batter, while Kaushik Giri of Bud Cricket Club was named Best Bowler.

The presentation ceremony was graced by Tonmoy Jyoti Mahanta, Vice President of GTC, along with former Ranji cricketer Shankar Datta Lahkar and other dignitaries.
