Duliajan Club Senior Tennis Tourney concludes

The first edition of Duliajan Club All Assam Prize Money Senior Tennis Tournament, organized by Duliajan Club under the aegis of All Assam Tennis Association held at the club courts concluded yesterday.

GUWAHATI: The first edition of Duliajan Club All Assam Prize Money Senior Tennis Tournament, organized by Duliajan Club under the aegis of All Assam Tennis Association held at the club courts concluded yesterday.

In the Senior Gentlemen's Doubles (above 35 years) Chandra Sekhar Mohanty and Dhrubajyoti Hazarika annexed the title defeating Rupjit Bharali and SamratMahanta by 6-4, 7-5 in the final while in the Senior Gentlemen's Doubles (above 45 years) Hakim Ali and Dr. Anshuman Dutta won the title beating Gopal Gogoi and Bhaskarjyoti Kaman by 6-3, 6-4 in the final.

In the Senior Gentlemen's Doubles(above 50 years) Hakim Ali and Dr. Diganta Konwar won the title defeating Gopal Gogoi and Bhaskar Barua by 6-4, 7-5 while in the Ladies Doubles (above 35 years) Nilakshi Khargharia and Monisha Hazarika bagged the title beating Dr. HiramoniDeka and Dr. Bindu Singh Rathore by 2-6, 6-3, 10-4.

All the winners in the Senior Gentlemen's Doubles (above 35, 45 and 50 years) were awarded with cash award of Rs. 10,000 and finalist were awarded with Rs. 7,000 while in the Ladies Doubles (above 35 years) category winner were awarded with Rs. 5,000 and finalist were awarded withRs. 3,000 respectively.

In the closing function prizes to the winners and finalists were distributed by Dr. Manash Sarma, OSD (Exploration and Development), OIL. Earlier the tournament was inaugurated on February 18 by PrasantaBarkakoty, Resident Chief Executive, OIL amidst an august gathering.
