Former Ranji cricketer Anwar Hussain Hazarika passes away

GUWAHATI: Former first-class cricketer and sports organizer Anwar Hussain Hazarika passed away at his Rajabari residence, Jorhat today. He was 75 and left behind wife and two sons.

Hazarika, a good batsman in his days, represented Assam in 16 Ranji Trophy matches from 1965 to 1973. He held the unique record of scoring century in the debut first class match against Odisha in 1965. Later Hazarika represented East Zone against MCC at Jamshedpur.

Assam Cricket Association and Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA) today expressed heartfelt condolences on the demise of Hazarika.
