Guwahati City To Host First Mixed Gender Futsal League

GUWAHATI: Guwahati will host the first Mixed Gender Futsal League in August. Six teams from the different States of the North East will take part in the championship which will be held at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium.

The logo of the league was unveiled today in a glittering function held in a city hotel. All the team owners were present in the function along with two former International footballers – Debashish Roy and Bala Devi (Manipur) – along with former national footballer Motilal Das and actress Yankee Parashar.

The meet would be organized by the PSR group. Biswajit Mahanta, a key official of the group, announcing the launch of the league said, “Except Sikkim and Tripura all other northeastern States will participate in the meet which will kick off on August 25. Each team will have eight players and three of them would be women. Among the eight players, two would be foreigners. “

He also announced the name of the teams. These are Arunachal Highlanders, Assam Titans, Manipur Play5, Meghalaya Thunders, Mizo Falcons and Nagaland Super 5. The champion team will receive Rs 5 lakh and the cash award for the runners-up team is Rs 2.5 lakh. The function was also attended by a few other key officials of the PSR group which included Ranajit Mahanta.
