GUWAHATI: Renowned sports organizer Kali Kanta Boro passed away in the city on Wednesday after prolonged illness. He was 73. Boro was a prominent figure in the field of boxing and played a key role in promoting the sport in Assam. As one of the pioneering organizers of boxing in the state, he was instrume
ntal in nurturing and developing talent in the region.
He also held significant positions in the sporting community, serving as the president of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association and as treasurer of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation.
In condolence messages several sports organizers said, “Boro’s contribution to the development of boxing in Assam and the nation will be remembered fondly by the sports fraternity.”
