Hrishikesh slams century, match ends draw

Hrishikesh scored a century, but the match between Guwahati and Rangia in the Nuruddin Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament ended in a draw.

GOALPARA: Guwahati secured three points by virtue of a first-innings lead against Rangia in the Nuruddin Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament match which ended as a draw at Goalpara today.

After Rangia posted 164 in their first innings, Guwahati, who were 137/5 at stumps on Day 1, added 154 runs on the second day before declaring at 291/9. Hrishikesh Tamuly was the standout performer with a superb century (102no). He spent 218 minutes at the crease, faced 141 deliveries, and struck 10 boundaries. Abdul Ajij Kuraishi also played a crucial role with a well-made 52, and together they stitched a vital 92-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Neelabh Sarma was Rangia’s most successful bowler, returning with figures of 3/69.

In their second innings, Rangia were bowled out for 161, with Rohit Singh leading the attack with 4/56 and he was well supported by Avinav Choudhury who claimed 3/25. Dweep Jyoti Kalita (29), Sanjeeb Kashyap (23), and Aryan Mondal (23) were the key contributors for Rangia with the bat. Chasing 35 for victory in 3 overs in their second innings, Guwahati fell just short as they reached 31/1 before the end of play.
