Online Staff/GUWAHATI: Assam started their campaign in the Santosh Trophy Football tournament (Zonal leg) on a poor note. The side lost their opening tie to Meghalaya 2-6 in Shillong today. Milan Basumatary scored both the goals for Assam in 27th minute and in added time respectively. Dawanchwa Carlos Challam of Meghalaya scored a hat-trick in the game. Maxderidoff Wahlang and Hardy Cliff Nongbri scored one goal each while the other one was suicide goal.
