GUWAHATI: Qualification round in the Guwahati Masters Super 100 badminton tournament brought mixed results for Assam's participants at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday. In the men's doubles, Anjan Buragohain and Ranjan Buragohain delivered a strong performance, defeating Harshavardhan Kothari and Chiranjeevi Reddy in straight sets, 21-15, 21-8. However, other Assam players faced setbacks, with Suraj Gowala -Dhruba Rawat, Iman Sonowal-Sargaraj Bora, and the women's shuttler Manali Bora paired with Bhabya Chabra (Mixed doubles) bowing out of the competition after losing their respective matches.
In the men's singles, Orijit Chaliha displayed tremendous resilience against S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian but ultimately fell short. After a marathon battle lasting 1 hour and 14 minutes, Chaliha lost 22-20, 14-21, 18-21 in a hard-fought contest.
