Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army arrives in Guwahati

The 42-member squad is headed by Lt. Col. Basanta Raj Gurung (Retd) and will be captained by seasoned international Nawayug Shrestha, who has eight career goals for Nepal in 43 internationals.

GUWAHATI: Tribhuvan Army Football Club of Nepal landed in Guwahati to take part in the 132nd Durand Cup Football tournament. The club will play their first group League match at Kokrajhar.

The 42-member squad is headed by Lt. Col. Basanta Raj Gurung (Retd) and will be captained by seasoned international Nawayug Shrestha, who has eight career goals for Nepal in 43 internationals.

Tribhuvan Army Football Club are placed in Group E, along with Hyderabad FC, Chennaiyin FC and Delhi FC. The side will start their campaign on August 9 with the game against Delhi FC. After this game the Nepal side will return to Guwahati as all their next fixtures thereafter are scheduled at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in the city.

Speaking on arrival Nawayug Shrestha said, “It is a great honour for us to participate in this prestigious tour-nament and we look forward to giving our best.”
