NTPC NE Open Archery Begins Today in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The NTPC North East Zone Open Archery Tournament is set to begin on Saturday at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. Organized by the Archery Association of Assam (AAA), the two-day event aims to provide a platform for archers from the region to showcase their talent.

Around 140 archers from across the Northeast will participate in the tournament, which features competitions in both Recurve and Compound categories. The Recurve events will take place on Saturday, followed by the Compound competitions on Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference, AAA Secretary Jayanta Boro highlighted the significance of the event. “The Northeast has produced exceptional archery talent, and this tournament will help elevate the sport while giving young athletes a chance to shine,” he said.

Boro also announced the cash prizes for the winners: Rs 20,000 for first place, Rs 15,000 for second, Rs 10,000 for third, and Rs 5,000 for fourth. The championship aligns with the Khelo India programme’s mission to identify and nurture talent at grassroots level.
