GUWAHATI: The final-leg group match of the Nuruddin Senior Inter-District Cricket Competition between Silchar and Dibrugarh has reached an exciting stage, with both teams battling fiercely for the first innings lead at Tinsukia on Monday. After the opening day was completely washed out, Silchar, winning the toss, invited Dibrugarh to bat first. Dibrugarh struggled in their first innings, getting bowled out for just 125 runs. While Yasir Ali top-scored with 50 runs (5 fours, 1 six), captain Gunjan Jyoti Deka contributed 31 runs. On the bowling side, Hritwik Dhar and Amit Yadav shone with the ball, picking up three wickets each. Rahul Singh also supported well, claiming two wickets.
In reply, Silchar found themselves in trouble in their first innings, losing three wickets on way to put just 23 runs at stumps. They now need 103 more runs to take the first-innings lead.
