GUWAHATI: Triranga Cricket Coaching Centre stormed into the final of the 10th Sitaram Chhawchharia Memorial U-19 Cricket Tournament with a commanding 49-run win over Mangaldoi Cricket Academy in the first semi-final, played at the NFRSA Stadium in Maligaon on Monday. The match was reduced to 25 overs per side due to a morning shower.
Opting to bat first, Triranga posted a competitive total of 170 for 4 in their allotted 25 overs. Dipankar Paul top-scored with an unbeaten 48 (2 fours, 2 sixes), while Rajiv Lochan Das (39) and Julien Konwar (31) also made valuable contributions. Subhangkar Sarma was the pick of the bowlers for Mangaldoi, taking 2 for 22.
In reply, Mangaldai Cricket Academy were bowled out for 121 in 22.1 overs, thanks to a brilliant spell by Priyangshu Paul. He claimed 5 wickets for just 13 runs in his 4-over spell. Shaurya Yadav provided strong support, picking up 3 for 13. Abhijit Bhadra (38) and SK Jnyanam (27) were the main scorers for Mangaldoi, but their efforts weren’t enough to prevent defeat.
