GUWAHATI: Young International Master and top seed Mayank Chakraborty, a student of the host South Point School, Guwahati, is on a winning streak at the ongoing SPS Guwahati India Open International Rating Chess Tournament. After four rounds, Mayank has a flawless score of 4/4, sharing the lead with 11 other players in the ten-round Swiss league event.

In the upcoming fifth round, Mayank will face another promising player, Tanmoy Rajbonshi of Guwahati, in what is expected to be a tough challenge. Tanmoy, who is in strong form, will look to test the top seed.

In the third round, there was an unexpected twist when eighth-seed Y Dhanabir Singh from Manipur suffered a shock defeat at the hands of young Aarav Das in a closely contested match.
