Mumbai: Mumbai City gave their top-four probability a massive boost with a 2-0 win against Bengaluru FC in a Hero Indian Super League clash here at the Mumbai Football Arena on Friday.

Defensive mistakes cost Bengaluru and helped Mumbai's cause as Modou Sougou (13') took advantage of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu's error to give his team the lead. A poor header by Harmanjot Khabra back to his keeper allowed Amine Chermiti (55') to score the second goal and put the result beyond doubt.

With 19 points after 13 games, the Islanders are fifth and only two points behind fourth-placed Odisha FC. Bengaluru could have climbed to the top of the table with a win but the defeat has left them in second spot with 22 points. IANS
