MANCHESTER: Shubman Gill on Sunday scored a century during the fifth day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford. This was Gill’s fourth hundred in the ongoing series, which tied him with Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli for the most hundreds by an Indian in a series. Gavaskar had achieved the feat twice, both times against West Indies, in 1971 and 1978. Kohli got four tons during India’s tour to Australia in 2014/15.

Gill also tied Don Bradman, for the most hundreds in a series by a captain. Bradman had reached the three-figure mark four times during the Ashes in 1947/48 in Australia. Agencies
