Guwahati: At the end of the application process, which was extended till August 7, 2025, a total of 2,567 pilgrims from Assam have been provisionally selected to perform the annual Haj 2026 pilgrimage.
An official of the Joint State Haj Committee for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, etc., said the committee has released the provisional list of selected applicants for Haj 2026. Of the total 2,567 provisionally selected pilgrims, 1,762 are male and 805 are female.
According to the district-wise report released, Cachar with 483, Karimganj with 426, Hailakandi with 234, Kamrup Metro with 167, and Nagaon with 167 have the highest number of selected covers. As for the number of pilgrims from other districts of the state released, in alphabetical order, Baksa has 10, Barpeta 89, Biswanath 11, Bongaigaon 22, Charaideo 5, Chirang 8, Darrang 127, Dhubri 111, Dibrugarh 45, Dima Hasao 6, Goalpara 81, Golaghat 27, Hojai 64, Jorhat 34, Kamrup 97, Kokrajhar 15, Lakhimpur 36, Morigaon 78, Nalbari 30, Sivasagar 72, Sonitpur 10, South Salmara-Mankachar 42, Tinsukia 37, and Udalguri 6.
The Haj Committee has clarified that this is a provisional selection list, and final confirmation will follow after further verification and formalities.
The committee official further stated regarding payment of the advance Haj amount for Haj 2026, in consonance with the provisions of the Guidelines for Haj 2026 and earlier Circulars, all the provisionally selected pilgrims are required to deposit a total of Rs 1,52,300 (including Advance Haj Amount of Rs 1,50,000; Miscellaneous Dues of Rs 2,000; and Non-Refundable Processing Fee of Rs 300) latest by August 20, 2025.
After depositing the amount, the pilgrims must upload the following documents on the HCol website or submit to the concerned State/UT Haj Committee latest by August 25, 2025: (a) Signed copy of Haj Application Form (HAF) along with solemn declaration and undertaking; (b) Copy of pay-in-slip/online receipt; and (c) Medical screening & fitness certificate (as per format available on the website).
Significantly, the Haj Committee of India has modified the guidelines relating to companions of pilgrims aged 65 and above. The revised provision reads as follows:
"In partial modification to the provisions of the Guidelines for Haj 2026 related to the age requirement for companions of pilgrims aged 65 years and above, it is hereby notified that a companion in the age bracket of 60 to 65 years is allowed subject to such companion being a spouse or sibling of the pilgrim aged 65 years and above. Such permission shall be subject to certification of medical fitness by a government allopathic doctor. All other companions must be in the age group of 18 to 60 years."
