GUWAHATI: A total of 31 candidates are in fray for the upcoming bye-election to Assam Legislative Assembly, 2021. All the 39 nominations were found valid. However, 8 candidates – 3 from Tamulpur Constituency and 5 from Gossaigaon – have withdrawn their nominations today. Thus, the total tally of the contesting candidates now stands at 31.
While Gossaigaon LAC has eight candidates, Bhabanipur has eight, Tamulpur has six, Mariani has four and Thowra has five candidates in fray.
