Assam: BLFs in Dhemaji fetch highest tea price of Rs 290.99 per kg

Guwahati: In the month of May 2025, the bought leaf factories (BLFs) in Dhemaji district fetched the highest prices for their CTC tea in auctions, among all the districts in the state.

This was reflected in a Tea Board of India report titled 'District-wise average prices of BLFs for the month of May 2025' on CTC tea prices.

According to the report, BLFs in Dhemaji district fetched an average price of Rs 290.99 per kg of CTC tea, followed by Cachar with Rs 246.81 and Lakhimpur with Rs 240.48 per kg. The BLFs in other districts garnered average prices of Rs 177.08 for Biswanath Chariali, Rs 190.94 for Bongaigaon, Rs 171.78 for Darrang, Rs 188.04 for Dhubri, Rs 185.92 for Dibrugarh, Rs 170.58 for Goalpara, Rs 155.73 for Golaghat, Rs 202.72 for Jorhat, Rs 205.12 for Karbi Anglong, Rs 160.84 for Karimganj, Rs 141.45 for Kokrajhar, Rs 187.06 for Nagaon, Rs 211.01 for Sivasagar, Rs 157.01 for Sonitpur, Rs 163.99 for Tinsukia and Rs 208.27 for Udalguri.

The report also mentions the average prices fetched by BLFs in West Bengal. BLFs of Coochbehar garnered a price of Rs 111.02 per kg of CTC tea, Darjeeling (Plains) Rs 133.59, Jalpaiguri Rs 136.38 and North Dinajpur Rs 121.15 per kg.

It is mandatory for BLFs to sell 50% of their manufactured tea through auctions.
