Construction of flyover from Guwahati Railway Station to Noonmati

GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet took slew of decisions at its Jorhat sitting today.
Briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The Cabinet approved the setting up of the Directorate of Prosecution to analyse the reasons behind the government often getting defeated in criminal cases. The proposed directorate will review the criminal cases and suggest measures for the government to win. Its primary objective is to enable the government to fight the increasing crimes in an efficient way. From now, the government will treat public prosecutors and assistant public prosecutors as government cadres. We will make such posts transferable from district to district."
The Cabinet today decided to repeal over 30 obsolete laws of various departments. The government will introduce bills in this connection during the coming winter session.
The Chief Minister said, "The Cabinet approved Rs 923 crore for a four-lane flyover from Guwahati Railway Station to Noonmati to ease traffic congestion in Guwahati."
The Cabinet recognized Rapido as a transport service. The government will frame rules and regulations for this purpose. The Chief Minister said, "From now the government will also allow private bikes to provide Rapido service, four trips a day. For this, they don't need any commercial registrations. The government will also allow private cars, plying between two districts for personal purposes, can also carry three passengers. For this, they will not have to change their number plates. It will help people generate an extra income."
The Chief Minister said, "The Cabinet approved the launching of a utility company, a joint venture between the government and civic bodies for streetlight maintenance. To meet the power demand, the Cabinet approved the purchase of 206 MW power from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation."
