GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet, on Thursday, took a slew of decisions on various aspects. Among these moves are streamlining the pension procedure of teachers; paddy procurement; and appointment of State's star pugilist and Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain, among others.

Streamlining pension process: To ensure that the retired teachers of Assam avail of their pension immediately after proceeding on superannuation, the Assam Cabinet has taken a major move. It will be facilitated via a one-window portal entitled 'Kritagyata' of the government. Besides, 'Pension Sewa Kendras' will be constituted in each district.

The respective District Education Officer and the principals of colleges will be authorised for despatching the pension papers on time through the mentioned portal.
