TANGLA/GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said from Paneri after the Cabinet meeting today that the government would declare the results of 51,397 posts in various government departments on May 6. For the first time, the State Cabinet met at the Polo Gymkhana Club in Panery Tea Garden.
Speaking to the media after the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said, “The Cabinet decided to declare the results of 51,397 government posts on May 6, 2023. The interviews were conducted recently. The results include 11346 third-grade posts, 14281 fourth-grade posts, 5730 posts in Police and Forest, 5799 posts in Health, and 14241 posts in Education. We will distribute appointment letters to selected candidates between May 10 and May 20, publicly in Guwahati. With these, government jobs to unemployed in the state will be 94,000. The selection of 1,000 other posts is in various stages. The results of those posts may be declared soon. We will also start the process for the appointment of 6,000 other posts.”
The Chief Minister said that the Government would rename the Tea Welfare Department as the Tea and Adivasi Welfare Department as per the Adivasi Peace Accord. The name of the directorate will also be renamed Directorate of Tea and Adivasi Development.”
The Chief Minister further said, “On January 10, 2021, and May 19, 2022, ANM nurses faced an interview. The upper age limit for ANM sisters is 40. However, since the ANM sisters did a commendable job during COVID-19, the upper age limit for ANM nurses has been extended only for this time. Hence, all ANM nurses will be eligible applicants.”
The Chief Minister said that the Assam State Commission for Right to Public Service will be constituted in the state after the Assembly session, besides ensuring land mutation, issuance of caste certificates in a time-bound manner. “If matters like police verification are pending for more than 30 days, the officers will be held accountable, and they will be made to pay compensation from their salaries,” he said.
The Cabinet also made several announcements for the Udalguri district, including an integrated office for SDO (C) at Bhergaon, Bhergaon College, an auditorium for Tangla College, a mini stadium at Khagrabari, and a bridge over the Suklai River, among others. He also announced a water supply scheme with an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore at Bhairabkunda, a stadium at Udalguri, a new circuit house at Udalguri, a flyover at Udalguri, and a satellite campus for Bodoland University at Udalguri.
He further raised concerns over the man-elephant conflict in Udalguri district and stated that necessary policies would be formulated, taking suggestions from stakeholders. He also stated that since Udalguri has untapped tourism potential, the government is considering to set up an airport in Udalguri.
