SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday met his Assam counterpart, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in Guwahati, in what is being seen as a significant engagement. During the meeting, the two leaders touched upon pressing issues, including the long-standing boundary dispute, cross-border coordination, and developmental cooperation.

Regarding the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on social media, "Today, in Guwahati, I had an excellent discussion with the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shri @SangmaConrad Ji. We discussed a wide gamut of issues to strengthen the mutual growth of both our sister States."

Echoing this sentiment, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma highlighted the spirit of collaboration, saying, "Pleased to connect with the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma ji in Guwahati for a fruitful discussion on deepening the bonds between our sister states and exploring avenues for greater collaboration."

The meeting is being interpreted as more than just administrative dialogue-it is suggested to be a carefully crafted exercise in cooperative federalism that also reinforces evolving political equations in the Northeast's shifting electoral landscape.
