Assam Government released Rs 50 crores as Gratuitous Relief Fund

GUWAHATI: The State government has released Rs 50 crores as GRF (Gratuitous Relief Fund) under SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) to the district and sub-divisional administrations. This amount will be used for distribution of various essential items among the flood-affected people. Earlier, two installments of Rs 6.35 crores and Rs 46.10 crores were released under this head.

Of the Rs 50 crores allotment, Rs 5 crores each have been released to Barpeta and Dhubri districts; Rs 4 crores each to South Salmara and Goalpara districts; Rs 3 crores each to Morigaon and Jorhat districts; Rs 2 crores to Kamrup district; Rs 1.5 crores each to Darrang and Bongaigaon districts; Rs one crore each to Nagaon, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur districts. Besides, Rs 90 lakh has been released to Golaghat district; Rs 50 lakh each to Majuli and West Karbi Anglong districts.

Altogether 14 flood-affected subdivisions have been also released this fund. Among them are North Salmara (Rs 2.50 crore), Bajali (Rs 2 crore), Bokakhat (Rs 1.50 crore), Gohpur (Rs one crore), and Dhakuakhana (Rs 50 lakh)
