GUWAHATI: The State Government is going to distribute appointment letters to 514 successful third and fourth grade candidates in various departments on September 3, 2023. This is part of the BJP’s election promise to provide 1 lakh government jobs in the state. The government is also going to advertise the filling of 22,000 other posts shortly.
On May 25, 2023, the State Government distributed appointment letters to 44,703 successful third and fourth grade candidates in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The state-level recruitment commissions for classes III and IV did select the candidates through a selection process based on merit. However, some of the selected candidates did not join. That led the government to fill the posts based on the merit lists prepared by the recruitment commissions. The recruitment commissions had to seek detailed information from the departments on the selected candidates who opted not to join their posts. Based on the reports from the departments, the two commissions published another list of 514 candidates—59 grade III and 455 grade IV—for their appointment on September 3. The Chief Minister himself will distribute the appointment letters on that day. The selected candidates will join 34 departments.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said, “We are going to advertise for the filling of 22,000 posts in various departments shortly”.
