GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has directed all education institutions to start classes of Class-12 immediately after the Class-11 annual examination is over.
It may be mentioned that as per the AHSEC academic calendar, classes of Class-12 should start from May 18 each year. However, commencement of classes is sometimes delayed due to floods, delay in holding of Class-11 examination, etc.
Class-11 examinations will be completed by June 8 in most districts this year.
Earlier, despite the existence of the AHSEC's academic calendar, some schools created confusion at their own end regarding the date of commencement of Class-12 classes. In order to bring about more clarity, the AHSEC has issued a Notification stating: "Information has been received that the institutions could not start the (Higher Secondary) 2nd year classes due to ongoing 1st year Higher Secondary examination and other unavoidable circumstances. It is, therefore, notified to all heads of institutions that the classes of Higher Secondary 2nd year for the academic session 2022-23 be started immediately after the 1st year examination is over."
According to sources, the results of the Higher Secondary final examination 2022 will be declared around June 20. The results have been somewhat delayed due to the flood situation in the State.
It may be mentioned that 2,15,032 candidates across all streams appeared in this year's examination.
